How woke your patriotism is?

In Uncategorized on February 20, 2019 at 8:02 am

“What theme we should follow? how about using colorful candles this time for a change- I have few from last Diwali stalk. Achha how about going to dinner afterwards as we will be tired?”-She was painting her well-shaped nails and talking to her friend.

Guess where she was planning to go? – to a candle march to express grief!

“Beta, Its too simple to reply you want to be teacher. You should aspire like- I want to be a soldier and protect/serve my country. Just to brag about, you don’t need to be one in real. Patriotism works everywhere. You will get vote of sympathy!”- He was preparing his daughter for elocution competition on the topic- My dream career.

Welcome to India.

Let me talk about “we average Indians”, who conditionally love country.

We are self-proclaimed patriots of highest degree of hypocrisy. Our patriotism is seasonal. Mostly our patriotism is on fire on 15th August, 26th January. Though our patriotism wakes up on certain specially triggered events also. Like one happened on 14th February at Pulwama.

Nearly 43 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and many others injured when terrorists targeted a convoy with a car bomb at Awantipora in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday, in what is the worst attack ever on security personnel in the state. Reports suggested that the vehicle used by the terrorists was a Mahindra Scorpio carrying more than 350 kg of explosives. The injured have been moved to the army base hospital in Srinagar, 20 km from the attack site.  Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed has claimed responsibility for the attack.

As soon as out Facebook, Twitter,Instagram , Whatsapp accounts started crying about above incident- our passively sleeping patriotism sparked.

Image result for partritism sarcasm india

We – everyone felt the competition of posting emotional-cringe worthy-sentimental long patriotic- terror bashing posts with pictures(Too inappropriate to be posted on SM!) . We had to prove our love for our country and hence we finished our candle light- valentine dinners at fancy restaurants little too quick, clicking only few romantic pictures(to be posted once our patriotism hibernates!).

And we worked few extra hours at night- posting our anger-rage-frustration-incapability of government, uselessness of opposition etc in virtual world.

We also changed our DPs on various social media platforms to black for showing our grief.

We had to also post relevant whatsapp, insta, FB stories and hence we searched for appropriate posts, edited them and posted in no time. (So much work to be done!)

We did our jobs well and slept under our cozy warm blankets putting our AC on.

The next day also we had to work harder and longer. We had to post all possible videos, images, posts and keep our patriotism ignited. We did it. We did it well.

The day after next day we felt little relaxed. We resumed routine and booked movie tickets, changed back to colorful DPs, started posting sick humor and sliding into DMs to flirt. Oh Boy! Time flies! Our Patriotism woke up, worked it off and slept back!

If you are still reading this, You must ask me- So what? So what I want average Indian to do? They should not even express their anger? Should not post their rage? Should not ask for revenge?

Yes. Yes. Yes. With all equal and valid rights Yes! Show your anger, Ask your questions, shower your love but also do something in real- REAL for your love for your country.

Ask yourself and your loved ones-

  • Will you motivate and guide your kids to join armed forces? if not- WHY?

We aspire for our kids to be engineers, doctors, CA, MBA etc- but never a soldier. Living under constant insecurity and life threat is not easy. We want our kids to be safe, happy and enjoying life all ways and we also ask for war in anger without thinking of its consequences! Its easy and convenient for us as the one who is going to war front is not our loved one. Think about it.

Asking for war is asking for blood, blood of so many soldiers and families. War should be last option and our patriotism should respect emotions of our brave hearts and their families while commenting, arguing, posting logic-less stupid content.

Lets be wise. Lets experts decide.

Motherhood- What all you need to know!

Image result for baby blues after maternity

What is common between Serena Williams, Beyoncé and Me?

We are speaking out about post pregnancy trauma which is also called Postnatal depression, Baby blues or postpartum challenge. Know the difference between these possible depressions? have a look-

Don’t google what these words mean if you don’t know it already! Let me explain it slowly..

Every woman dreams about motherhood and her babies at certain age. The traditions, cultural, society, movies, books- everyone has said fascinating experiences about being mother. Like-

“mother is as divine as God”

“The best feeling in the world is feeling your baby inside your body and holding baby in your hands first time!”

“Seeing your baby growing up is happiness. Spending time with your baby is divine!”

“A mother can sacrifice anything for her kid! ANYTHING!”

“After pregnancy a mother is born. She lives only for her kids. “

“A perfect mother creates a perfect and happy family!”

Above stated are just few glorified statements!

Just few!

We have heard sooooooo much about motherhood but we have heard only good-rosy side of it.

Has ever someone told a mother-to-be that-

“Life will be upside down after the baby!”

“You won’t ever again get sound sleep for coming 2-3 years. “

“Your priorities will change and you will have zero time for self, forget career or passion.”

“Your body will never be back as it was. Even after losing weight it will never be same as it was.”

“You will feel constant guilt for doing/not doing/not doing at par something or other thing for the baby!”

“You will be judged and labeled for everything baby does or does not do. “

The list can go loooong!

So in short we are never counseled about blues we will have to face after motherhood. So what?

Every first time mommy goes through emotional stigma which even she don’t know exactly about.

Even after second child, mommies go through same distress. Why?

First- No fact sharing about troubles before and after delivery.

Second- No or little cooperation from family members in bringing up the little baby.

Talking about the first reason- what do you think, what all changed woman go through before/after delivery? Let me list few-

During 9 months of pregnancy- she does..

  • Gain lots and lots of weight
  • Her body changes and she goes through constant pain here or there
  • Countless sleepless nights make it worse
  • She can’t eat her favorite(even normal) food
  • She can’t continue doing all her normal/regular activities- slowly her motions starts getting restricted for the safety of baby
  • She is responsible to do yoga-Dhyan-read spiritual books to instill good values in soon-coming-baby. SHE ONLY!
  • She can’t take medicines if has headache-body ache or anything!
  • She has to stop having tea-coffee as it can give her acidity.
  • She is puke-ready everytime, ready to puke regardless time-place knowledge.

Fewwwwww- list is long. Though not every woman goes through same. Exceptions are also there!

Believe me it’s not easy to deal with them all. Have been through it twice.

Talking about second point- little or no cooperation from family front.

In our society-traditions raising a kid is a mother’s job. She is given the honor of GOD to make her understand she no more owns her life.

Feeding baby, changing nappies n-number of times, cleaning baby, bathing the little one, making baby sleep, soothing crying baby, playing with baby, helping baby learn things slowly- EVERYTHING HING. She is responsible to do everything. Worst is if the baby becomes ill, she is answerable!

It’s difficult. Most of the time families try to support but don’t provide adequate support. Most families advice the mother to be with baby 24*7 and they support by doing household duties. Or help little by playing with kid for few minutes till he/she starts crying loudly. We need to understand that the mother not just need bodily rest but also mental peace. She should be given some HER TIME. The time when baby is with some family member regularly and mother can do something she enjoys or just not-do-anything and chill. Families need to support by doing every bit they can do for baby as mother is already doing everything and only way to relax her is giving her some space and peace.

Other than above stated two topics what caused depression at core is judgments-comments-labels-gossips around the new mother. About -how she is failing being good mother, how she is not taking good care of baby, how she can’t calm her crying baby, how her baby is ill very frequent and she is careless about it, how she has started working or spending time on self despite having baby! I wonder they(read society!) will even worry when the mother breathes air as she could spend that energy-time for baby instead!

Serena Williams has talked about her agony on her Instagram page- how she constantly feels that she is not being a good mother or she is failing being a perfect mother. Same is story with Beyoncé. Alike I have also been through! I am sure many of you readers have experienced it but never discussed it in fear of being judged or labeled – not-a-good mother.

Ladies- it’s time to talk.

Talk about our pains and our emotional outbursts. It’s time to slam the “mother is god” –“Perfect mom”-“super mom”-“sacrificing mom”- all the labels back on their face. As we don’t seek their certificates and mother is human and entitled to all humanly feelings!

Let’s be Human only and stop being god, super mom or Balidan ki Devi for the sake of society.

Above all let’s take care of all mom-to-be or moms about to go through or going through this phase.

Let’s spread facts and help fight the fury!

दो लोग – गुलज़ार at his Best!

Reading poems of Gulzar sir is divine feeling. Reading short stories of Gulzar sir is heavenly travel through touching humanly emotions. Reading Novel written by Gulzar Sir was an experience never before. Like dwelling in thousands of emotions and carrying countless feelings- emotions and feelings of characters and stories.

Before reading DO Log, I had read – half a rupee stories and Ravi par ki kahaniya – both collection of short stories by Gulzarsir. Even I have loved reading poem collections by Gulzarsir and hence had been eagerly waiting to read Do Log novel.

Before starting this novel I had not gone through any review and had no presumption about story line. As reading Gulzarsir in Hindi is more appealing considering Urdu words majorly used- I had preferred reading this novel also in Hindi. When first I took this book in my hands the tag line provoked thousands of thoughts within me.

Do Log- Hum ek the. Ek alag ho gaya. Ab hum do Log hain.

Such simple words yet such a deep meaning.

The novel is based on India-Pakistan partition era. I have read many books on partition theme and found most of them biased towards one community or the other. And hence starting reading this one generated same feelings into me. I was curious to know how Gulzarsir would talk about partition as he has been through that era-pain-suffering. We all have just read about partition and loss during partition time but only those who have loved that can justify the true emotions well.

The book started narrating stories of many characters during 1946. Stories of different characters- simple-alike us. The characters whose names could make us associate certain religion with them but their conduct-nature-humanity put them all same-equal. The characters who lived different life before partition yet loved their motherland.

The story grew up in the background of a small town called Kembalpur (Atak originally, in Pakistan after partition). In this small town many families of different religions-Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian- lived together their own lives. The story grew slowly talking about many emotions such as- religion, friendship, hate, jealousy, satisfaction, sacrifice etc. the strong narration of characters and bond between them makes those character live inside reader forever. Every character is glorified with own circumstances-emotions-misery without any bias.

The simplicity of story is its boost. Slowly story reached to 1947 and consequences of Britishers leaving India- breaking India into two parts. The pain and confusion of people is perfectly narrated in small and effective incidents. People, regardless their religion, show strong love-bond for their mother-land and despite of partition based on religion- feel reluctant to relocate. Such a pure love!

From reach to poor, from lonely ones to families- how lives got shattered is described in depth. Many characters of Kempbalpur have to relocate to India as now their mother land is going to be called Pakistan. The misery and pain is beyond description yet the simple characters and simple incidents convey it strongly.

The migration of Refugees starts and lacs of shattered poor souls live their origin- not knowing where they are heading. Many get killed-raped-robbed in their travel and many die of the pain. Many reach to the new land, which is not their own. The misery and pain to settle at new place being refugee, re rooting self – becomes life long process.

The story keeps all characters and their tangled threads alive till end. It shows their resettlement in India and their struggle as well.

What is strongly showcased is the fact that- those souls who had left their roots could never re root to new place even after decades. The pain and memories haunted them forever.

Slowly story progresses to 80s talking about Indira Gandhi murder and the post anti-Sikh riots. The suffering of the same characters who were still struggling in making their shelters -their nests – is painful.

The entire story unbiasedly narrates how humanity is killed in era of partition. How one nation was divided in two like two brothers got separated. How those two brothers who got separated could never unite- or live peaceful life ever. How both nations kept burning on name of religion years after years!

A must read for all.

A treat for eyes and brain. A thought provoking one- an eye opener as well.

Soul Freedom…

In Uncategorized on March 29, 2018 at 4:06 pm

She was looking out from the window. Since morning, she was looking out of the window, like she is waiting for someone or something.

All of a sudden her mobile buzzed and her thought processing got disturbed. “Medicine reminder”- blinked on her smart phone and she kinda smiled thinking of how much she is dependent on her smart phone. Perhaps she is spending most of her time with it, sharing all her wild-grey secrets through it, sleeps with it and holds it when wakes up. Like a soul mate! And She started laughing with this thought- smart phone is such a soul mate that you can select based on qualities-features-comparisons, try it hands on and “purchase” it, even can change it after few years when latest model is available! Irony…

She moved out to balcony and switched on music, though she was not listening to whatever being played on her smart phone. Like her soul mate was singing to cheer her up but she was not interested at all. She was as usual looking at her favorite spot- the garden of the nearby house. Her neighbors had developed beautiful garden and had many pets as well. A cute dog, an adorable rabbit, a beautiful parrot and lot many lovely flowers. Though she was only interested in looking at the parrot. The parrot was placed in a very beautiful colorful cage hanging on a huge tree in middle of the garden. The parrot was fed regularly its favorite food. The parrot chirped in lovely voice.

What made her concerned was- the dog and rabbit could roam around freely in garden and often taken out with family for outing. But the fate of parrot was only inside the cage. beautiful, colorful but still cage. She always thought – what parrot must be thinking about outer world. Won’t the little bird dream of flying high in open sky? Wish I could free the little parrot…

But all she could do was- stare at the cage and the parrot.

“Dad, keep calm… You need to be strong. You have to be positive. I know its tough but you have to try! Its just tough time and it will pass soon. Have patient! And after few days I will have vacation and I will be there with you soon. Just hold on till then.”- She said to her dad. Her dad was listening carefully without responding.

She knew, her dad was breaking down day by day. But she thought her dad is fighter and they have unlimited time to sort out the issues and mess. Her father was operated as he had gangrene in left leg. He lost his leg and  movements. He was bedridden. He was loosing his hopes to live and he awaited for her daughter to help him out. To help him out to walk once again. But all she did was ordering an artificial costly leg for her father. He was seeking her company and she sent him an artificial body part. Though she promised him to visit him soon. He tried walking on artificial leg but his body denied accepting it. His dreams of walking again, living again got shattered but.. But he said nothing. No one knew what he is going through. He lived his hell inside silently. He ached for her family to support him to live again. But… He wanted his daughter to hold his hand and help him walk, like he holded her hand when she was little one and could not walk. But He had accepted the fact that no one has time, the bed is his destiny, he cant walk again.

Dependency is Death. He wanted to die. And his will became so strong that one fine morning… When his daughter finally got some time, a vacation and was on her way to meet him.. He left this dependency and freed his soul.

She kept on walking inside her huge compound. Heart burn was making her evening tough. She was due in May and the 8th month proved to be subtle. She could not drive her activa or car. She was not allowed to do job. She was not allowed to go on long journey. She was advised to rest at home.

Her hubby and baby took lot care of her. Yet she felt suffocated. She had books to read, TV to watch, Family to talk, good food to eat.. But she was feeling suffocated. They call it mood swings, pregnancy mood swings. She ached for something. Something pained her terribly despite of being happy and content with family-life-soon to be coming baby! She tried to convince her that she is overreacting and she must keep happy whole time. Apparently she had no reason to feel frustrated-annoyed or sad.

She put on music little louder to suppress her inner voices..

FREEDOM! – Her soul shouted loud.

Freedom to move around on own will and wish, Creativity to do what you love , Keeping busy in the work you are best at- is missing-  Her soul added silently.

She knew, she was dependent just for a month or two.. Yet she felt chocked.

And She gazed out of balcony straight to that colorful cage and parrot- who will never fly.. And she closed her eyes and missed her dad who died of physical-emotional dependency and will to be free.

She visualized her dad and herself in the same cage where the parrot was.

Book Review: Curfewed Night by Bashrat Peer

In Book Review, Learning Horizones, Uncategorized on January 27, 2018 at 4:11 pm

I have been too much curious to know about Kashmir stories, which made me read many books written on theme of Kashmir from different point of views. With same curiosity I had opted for Curfewed Night- By Bashrat Peer and The one word Review I can share is : DISAPPOINTMENT.

If I have to narrate more – Crap, Biased, Fake, Pseudo Secular, Terrorism oriented.

Let me try and express little more with words, my journey through this 239 pages. Yes I will call it 239 pages which wasted my total time and energy. Also it made damage on my emotional-intellectual system.

The author has been born-brought up in Kashmir and tries to narrate Kashmiriyat- in his words, which turns out to be Jihad supporting, terrorist pro tale. The story is about a Muslim family living in Kashmir. The story is about Author’s own family and life. Since childhood author narrates Kashmiri Separatists as his idols. The story moves ahead from author’s school to college in Delhi. At every time-lapse Author remembers to give emphasis on how barbaric Indian arm forces had been and how holy Jihadi’s goal had been! Even being a successful journalist from Delhi, all author notes about Kashmir is barbaric torture of Army on Karshmiris, no where mentioning tragedy Kashmiri Pandits have lived in same time-era. With every detailed incident of killing-gang rape-torture, author provokes the readers to hate Indian arm forces and sympathize stone pelters-separatist- Kashmiri Jihadists. Even at many places he openly accepts love of Kashmiri Muslims for Pakistan and hate for India.

The book is total biased narration wrote to sympathies the Jihadi mindsets in support of Pakistan.

Till I reached to end of the book, I had slight hope that somewhere author will keep bias aside and talk about Kashmiri Pandit’s exodu or love for nation. But I was highly disappointed. This book was waste of time and it even damaged my emotional-intellectual assets beyond repair.

I wont waste much time to share information of author here neither of book. I will just advise you to pick any- ANY damn book but not this.

Book Review: Agniputr-When Agni First Spoke

Book Review: Agniputr by Vardhan.

Image result for agniputra book by vadhan book review

Agniputr is a gripping tale full of excellence, thrill, speed and fiction. this book left me awe-stuck that the author had a style of writing very very few Indian authors do have!

The novel includes of four parts. The first part is about SUTRAM a destructive and ruthless force now caged in a castle in Gudem ( Surya is owner of which!).

The other parts focus on concepts as Quantum Mechanics, Quasars and anti quasars   and how the Universe is created! The author wins hearts by describing creation of universe through Sheila who is scientist by base of science.  The story is narrated so interestingly that Kiromal, Govind, P. Eshwar – these characters seem to come alive around us. We ought to believe in beliefs of Shiela at the end. Sharp and powerful indeed. Once you start reading this book it compels you to finish up!

I would recommend this book to all story lovers specially who loves reading fiction-thriller and new writing styles. Awaiting for more books from Author, as in this era Indian authors ahve been almost writing about love-sex-dhoka crap.

Vadhan wins reader’s hearts and minds with this amazing book. A MUST READ for ALL.

Amazing stories! Right?

Now see the below given images….

Now, which story you relate with this images?

Of course the recent bollywood movie- Akira.

Co-written, directed, and produced by AR Murugadoss with Sonakshi Sinha, Konkarna Sen, Anurag Kashyap in lead roles, Akira tells a story too loud.

Now, let me ask you a simple question..

How the earlier set of Disney princess movies relate with later Bollywood movie- Akira?

Any relation, similarity, contradiction?

Let me answer this question with a small dialogue with my dotty.

Before few days we- me and Heer went on a movie date. Akira was the movie this date. Though the movie was not a a kid’s movie, yet I recommended everyone in my friends and circle to watch the movie, especially with their kids(daughter to be specific).

Let me conclude that in words of my 7 and half years old.

Heer –  Mumma, this one is my favourite hero!

I – Beta who?

I- Beta He means Hero and She means Heroine.. what are you talking about?

Heer-Mumma, I am talking about Akira, She and yet Hero. She is my favourite hero!

I-Achha… Why?

Heer-You remember we had seen that movie of princess?

I-We have seen so many princess movies.. which one? and how that relates here with Akira?

Heer- Mumma, you don’t listen to me ever! You remember that movie of Snow white? than that of Frozen Princess? Also that Tangled/ Rapunzel? and Cinderella… also beauty and the beast. and….”

I-Yes beta.. I remember them all.. We have seen almost every Disney Princess movie.. What’s point here?

Heer-That’s the point mumma! In all those movies the princess awaited for prince to help, rescue and make them happy. Every princess had a prince, a hero to fight for her and save her. But AKIRA did it all on her own! She needed no prince. She been Hero for own fight and victory. She is my favourite Hero. I want to be like her!

I was speechless.

The whole drive from movie to home We were silent. Both mother and daughter were lost in thoughts.

No! I am not going to write movie review of Akira. Neither this is a paid promotional post.

I waited for more than 15 days to write this post, to write it out of movie effect.

Are you getting my point here?

  • NO?

Let me add one more dialogue here!

My seven and half years old daughter and my mother in law were chatting. Heer told her dadi the story of the movie Akira with enthusiasm and excitement. After narrating the story she concluded too.

Heer- Dadi, I want to be like Akira.

Dadi- Why? You want to be Gundi?

Heer- No, Dadi, I want to be like Akira.. Hero.

Dadi- Why? What all they show in movie is not good for us. We should not follow them.

Heer- But dadi, I want to fight for justice and rights like Akira.

Dadi- You should not fight with anyone. A girl should not fight.

Heer- Dadi, What if someone hurts my friends? I can help my friends if I fight like Akira, right?

Dadi- No. You should not fight for anyone. girls don’t fight. It don’t sound/look good.

Heer- But Dadi, if someone try to hurt me than? I will have to fight right?

Dadi- Why you will do something such that someone will try hurt to you? Good girls behave good and never do argues/fights and help their mothers and study well and follow family traditions…

Heer(a little disappointed)- I want to join karate classes. I want to learn self defence.. mumma said…

Dadi-No need to. There are so many good skills to learn.. Learn- cooking, dancing, helping mother, drawing etc.. What’s point in learning fighting… We are no goons. You have to be a good girl not a gundi.

And now it was Heer’s turn to go speechless.

SO! The story I want to tell you is of an Indian girl.

An average Indian Girl.. Who is raised to be a good girl. Sanskari, Sabhya, Sushil, Susankrut, Gharelu, Samzdar, Balidaan ki murat, Silent, Sahanshil and the list goes on… Who is trained to be an ideal Bahu regardless whatever she dreams to be! “Who will merry you?”- is the nightmare she is programmed with. Marriage is her only life destination and goal. Cooking, Cleaning, keeping family members happy, sacrificing own happiness, crying silently, keeping mouth shut always- is what she is taught to do. For anything unusual or challenging, she is denied permission. She has to take permission even to step out her own house. And most of the time she is assisted by a male member of her house. No, not for her protection… But mostly to keep watch on her. To observe her and to restrict her.

“GOOD GIRL dos and donts”– the check list is long and keeps on expanding.

How can a girl dream to break this stereo type?

How a girl can decide to be good or little bad or bad for a while on own choices?

How can a girl deny taking help from men of her family?

How can a girl fight her own battle?

How can a girl be Hero!

AKIRA, A movie which is not extra ordinary movie. A typical bollywood masala movie you can rate it. But the best thing about movie I found was-

  • Akira’s father trains her for self defence.
  • Akira learns fight and from small age, start raising for own rights!
  • Akira is not sorry for her past and is proud of what she is.
  • Akira resists and fights for everything wrong comes her ways.
  • Akira likes her bhabhi’s brother but never depends on him or her own brother to help her.
  • Akira never calls out for hero to rescue her…

Last but not least…

  • Akira never dances around trees or never performs on any cheap item song, not even in dreams!

I am happy my daughter found AKIRA as her role model… what about you?

Book Review: Faster, Smarter, Higher: Managing Your Career by Utkarsh Rai

In Book Review, commuter's rage.., Learning Horizones, Uncategorized on September 16, 2016 at 10:13 am

Self help books somehow have never appealed me, yet one book has changed my perception! “Faster , Smarter , Higher – Managing your career” is a Book that will appeal everyone and help too.

This book helps in organizing and managing a successful career. Almost everyone who wish to rise high in their career depend on expertise on subjective matter and not on their skill. from Experts to managers, from employees to entrepreneur-it targets everyone. Though beginners who are stepping into professional world can be most benefited by the book, if implement and practice all what it talks about.

In this era of competition, we all face different professional threats. For different layers of corporate and social corpse, different challenges are faced. This book helps in overcoming issues and fighting fears. The insights given in the book helps one to excel one’s career to new heights.

Key points that I found worth noting (quoted from the book):
1) Never ask your manager ‘when can I get promoted?’. Instead, the right question is ‘what skills do I need to demonstrate to move to the next level?’
2) You need to subtly beat your own drum without being pompous about it. The best way to increase your visibility is to interact with more and more people, especially those high in the hierarchy
3) As a manager, the more you empower your employees, the more they take their job seriously and deliver with full accountability and responsibility
4) As a manager, earn your respect than demand it. Respect is directly proportional to a person’s behaviour rather than their position
5) It is very important to increase your interactions with stakeholders of the next level and to make them aware of your contributions, skills and your capabilities

It is also evident that this book provides straight guides. The author has used simple language so that readers could easily get what he tries to convey. He also adds up more information through the advice and case studies.

This book can be best suggested for those who want to improve with career perspective and also to those who love reading non fiction. Language simplicity and sharp Ideas makes this book Perfect!

Usual humanly emotions/qualities with unusual narration. The classy selection of words and the mesmerizing way of story telling- it has it all.

Every story the book narrates, makes home within you in one or the other form. Every character it creates, merges within your soul. Every story binds you and at the same time frees you too.

No, I shall not be talking about any of the seven stories, as I don’t want to spoil the magic it will create. Besides the stories are so strong and touching that every reader will carry a different perception/view about it. Read your self and experience the aura.

Conclusion: A MUST READ

I don’t rate Book, yet I will call this – 5 / 5 – A total different experience in lanes of words, characters, emotions, stories.

I know the author of the book Mr. Saket Suryesh through Twitter (@saket71) and this book opened up an entire fresh aspect of him to me. I read the book without knowing his personal details and after reading the book when I read his introduction, I was happily amused. Amused for my correct finding! Finding about- one emotion that every story among seven tells- fatherhood. Upon finishing the book, inside me a voice said, only a father (to be precise father of a daughter) can write this delicate feelings and strong bonds so perfectly! And I was write about it. Mr. Saket lives at Delhi with his wife and daughter. He works in technology domain and writes between different roles from professional to personal- and hence ads variation to writing. He is well read and balanced in many domains from literature to politics!

Book Review ~ Secretly Yours by Vikrant Khanna

In Uncategorized on August 8, 2016 at 10:11 am

Books Keep me up and high. I may forget carrying my purse with me but never a book! And breathing stories and words I have been associated with Blogadda Book reviews. It is always pleasure to opt for a book review from blogadda as most of the book the open for are superb in own genre.

This time I read “Secretly Yours” by Vikrant Khanna under same Book review program. I have been too choosy in reading love stories, as most of the Indian authors have disappointed me as far as love stories are concerned.

Yet, I had picked up “Secretly yours” by Vikrant khanna and following was my experience.

Paperback: 280 pages
Publisher: Penguin Books Limited (16 June 2016)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 0143425919
ISBN-13: 978-0143425915

” The story is based over the beautiful city of Shimla. A seventeen years Sahil is a lost teenager who has no goal in life and has more issues than candles his birthday cake would have. Sahil has lost his parents and lives with his grandmother, elder brother and a cousin. Sahil has no interest in socialization or studies. Music is the only thing which hangs on Sahil with life. The character of Sahil may resemble to many teenagers of this age who hate almost everything about their life and are never happy for anything. Sahil do have few friends yet not closed ones. Sahil don’t interact with his family even. Sahil plays guitar, reads books, drinks lot, cuts self, roams around alone. Sahil dreams to be an author one day and writes a novel. Sahil is someone very common to this generation.

The story revolves around Sahil’s zombiness and takes turns with the entry of a pretty girl Anya. Anya, who has enrolled in Sahil’s music academy, makes him fall for her on the first sight. After the flattering entry of Anya the pretty happy-go-lucky girl, the story revolves around Love-Ishq-Mahobbat and all. Sahil keeps on wooing Anya and Anya keeps on rejecting. Friend-zoned Sahil conveys his love to Anya many times but Anya surprisingly  rejects him and yet keeps on hanging around him. Anya and her friends behave suspicious adding mystery to the story.

Sahil, Anya, Love, Teenager issues – the story goes beyond this and talks about suspicious multiple murders. Every murder happening in Shimla, somehow surrounds Sahil and Anya. Story takes many turns towards the revelation of suspense. And of course I will not open any thread of it. “

  • Chapters are short. Language is simple.
  • Narrates issues common to most teenagers.
  • Talks about murder, rape and its emotional outburst.

  • The story is very loosely woven.
  • None of the character makes impression out on readers pace.
  • Characters are not developed properly.
  • Story is too slow and many times drives confusingly.
  • No logic, background research is done for writing crime scenes. Everything sounds too simple to crack down.
  • Suspense is too predictable and disappointing.
  • Story fails in gripping a reader’s mind.

Take out:  I will not conclude too negative yet to state positive review for this book is far too difficult for me. I literally felt disappointed for opting for this book’s review. From the beginning till end I had to drag myself to finish just for the sake of doing this review for blogadda. I have not read any other book by same author and I will not pick up after this one.

Though the final word may change as per one’s likes and reading habits. Dont judge from this review, but read on your own and find out how the book is!
